Canadian Competitive program

The Canadian Competitive Program (CCP) includes 10 levels within two subcategories – compulsory and optional.

Compulsory athletes are permitted to start competing at the lowest level from age 5. The compulsory program includes levels 1-5. In this program athletes learn and compete nationally uniform routines in order to learn skills, artistry, and skill progression in a prescribed pathway. Compulsory athletes train anywhere from 6 to 20 hours per week depending on their age and stage.

The Optional category includes levels 6 though 10. Athletes are have a wide range of skills to choose from and compete. Athletes in this category train 16-24 hours per week.

The Xcel Program is intended for athletes who want to experience the fun and excitement of competitive gymnastics without the intention of pursuing high level skills and high training hours in the future.

The Xcel program has five levels in Canada – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Athletes in the Xcel program train 4-9 hours per week.

Developmental Program

The Developmental Program – or “Dev” program- at Flip City is intended to set athletes aged 4-6 on the path towards competitive gymnastics.

In this program young athletes will learn the fundamental skills of gymnastics in an environment which is slightly more structured than our recreational programs while still focusing on building fun experiences and the love of the sport. At the end of each competitive season Dev athletes are invited to their first competition in preparation for their entry into either the CCP or Xcel program the next year.
